(Born : 20 November,1948) The name of Shinozuka is greatly respected in Japanese motor sport circles. Having begun his career in 1968, in 1976 he became the first Japanese driver to finish the Kenyan Safari Rally. 15 years later, he again made history when he won a round of the World Rally Championship, the 1991 Ivory Coast-Bandama Rally, thus becoming the first Japanese to do so. In 1997, he got another first for Japan when he won the 19th "Dakar", which that year was called the Dakar-Agades-Dakar Rally, In 1998 and 1999, he has competed in the World Cup for Cross Country Rallies series (sponsored by PIAA Corporation), and was runner-up in the drivers two years in a row. |
