Andrew started co-driving in 1993, following a rise through the ranks of navigational rallies. He finished his first year by winning the Paul Watkins award for the best young co-driver on his home international, the Manx. The following year, Andrew joined Mark Blair in the Peugeot Challenge - a partnership that continued until Mark moved into circuit racing.
Andrew then teamed up with Justin Dale at the end of the 1995 season, and the pair immediately formed a formidable partnership. In their first full year together, they won four of the six rounds of the British Junior Championship, winning the Peugeot Challenge outright along the way.
Andrew became a works co-driver alongside Justin for the 1996 RAC Rally. He remained with Peugeot and tackled both the 1997 and 1998 British Championships with Justin.
Over the last year, Andrew has further increased his experience, moving from amateur to professional co-driver status and competing on selected events with other leading drivers. He has also extended his role to include taking on the responsibility of co-ordinating their 1999 British Championship campaign.
In 1999, Andrew continued to co-drive for Justin Dale in the Super 1600 category of the British Rally Championship. Together they won five out of the six rounds of the championship, easily winning the category in the British Championship. They finished the year with a career-best sixth overall on the Manx International Rally.
After winning the championship, Justin and Andrew retained their works drive for 2000. The following year, however, saw the outbreak of Foot & Mouth disease in the UK and the resulting cancellation of all rallying in the country.
For 2002, Andrew was back alongside Justin Dale in the British Championship in a new car. This year the pairing won the Super 1600 category of the British Rally Championship again and were runners-up for the outright championship. The culmination of their year is being chosen to stand in for the injured crew of Alister McRae and David Senior in the third official Mitsubishi entry on the Rally of Great Britain.
