Mitsubishi continued its unparalleled success story with the Pajero in the 1990 "Dakar", the 12th running of the event again visiting the forbidding desert of Libya as part of its challenging 12,000 km route. Consistency, durability and reliability are the virtues required of any machine to finish, let alone win, the Dakar challenge. The rest is almost entirely down to luck. The finish first, first you have to finish as the old rallying cliche goes, and Mitsubishi Pajeros are legendary in their ability to finish. The team once again kept to its 100 per cent record of delivering at least one of its machines to the Senegalese capital in the top placings, this time with Andrew Cowan in fourth place and Kenjiro Shinozuka in fifth, proving yet again that the Mitsubishi Pajero can face almost every situation and inspire confidence in its driver. In the T2 Modified Production Class, Hiroshi Msaoka continued another Mitsubishi Pajero tradition by brining his machine home in first place in the category, proclaiming to the world that in its class, the Pajero is a consistent world-beater.
