For the 6th consecutive year, the Federation of Automobile Sports of China (FASC) has welcomed the support of Mitsubishi Motors in staging the China Zhuhai International Race. And, once again, Mitsubishi Motors will provide Lancers for the one-make Mitsubishi Lancer Challenge Cup through Ralliart, its wholly owned motor sports subsidiary.

The Mitsubishi Lancer has proven itself successful in rallies around the world, and Mitsubishi Motors is providing 20 of them for the sixth running of the Mitsubishi Lancer Challenge Cup. Moreover, this year's models feature comprehensive race modifications unlike the gymkhana specifications of the past. The overwhelmingly higher performance provided by the cars should make for an extremely exciting race.

In addition, the "Mitsubishi Racing School" will run for five days, from November 18 until November 22, at Zhuhai Circuit. The school will be attended by 40 drivers nominated by the FASC. The purpose of the school is to help train and develop new drivers while taking advantage of the opportunity a locally staged international class race offers. Four veteran drivers from England - the birthplace of auto racing - will be at the school to teach the detailed curriculum. At the conclusion of the course, 20 drivers will be selected to enter the Mitsubishi Lancer Challenge Cup.

The 1999 FIA GT Championship Race will take place November 26~28 in Zhuhai International Circuit, Guangdong province, at China's first FIA-approved race circuit. Qualifying rounds will be run on November 26 and 27, with the finals featuring FIA 500km GT Championship Race on November 28. The race will be broadcast throughout China on China Central Television (CCTV) and STAR-TV, some local networks. Some portions of the event will also be broadcast on TVB in Hong Kong. Last year's 5-race event was a tremendous success that attracted more than 30,000 spectators and countless TV viewers during the four-day event. As such, the race represents an excellent opportunity to showcase the performance and reliability of the new Lancer to a huge audience. This is just one example of Mitsubishi's ongoing support for motorsports in China.
