Second-generation PAJERO

Established worldwide
acclaim as an all-terrain
vehicle

The first-generation PAJERO established itself as a versatile 4WD, offering drivers confidence and
comfort both on and off the road. MITSUBISHI MOTORS sought to expand on this concept further.

The breakthrough occurred with the introduction of Super Select 4WD, a world-first system that
debuted on the second-generation PAJERO. This innovative system combined the benefits of part-time and
full-time 4WD systems, enhancing stability and handling on paved roads
while maintaining exceptional off-road capability.

Super Select 4WD also enabled seamless switching between 2WD and 4WD while driving,
significantly improving convenience and usability.

By allowing drivers to adapt effortlessly to various road conditions, Super Select 4WD redefined
the concept of an all-round 4WD.
This groundbreaking philosophy would later evolve into Super Select 4WD-II,
further enhancing PAJEROs ability to deliver confidence, comfort and capability in any situation.

The second-generation PAJERO represented a significant evolution in design and everyday usability.
While maintaining the strong character of its predecessor, a lower and wider stance enhanced stability and reinforced its confident 4WD presence.

To improve comfort and efficiency on long journeys, the PAJERO adopted a sleeker, more aerodynamic design, featuring distinctive headlamps, a steeply raked windshield and flush-mounted quarter windows.

The refined styling of the second-generation PAJERO was equally suited for urban environments
and the outdoors. Combined with further advancements as an all-round 4WD,
it provided greater confidence, comfort and versatility wherever the journey led.

Consequently, the second-generation PAJERO gained the trust of drivers worldwide
and further solidified its reputation as a true all-round 4WD.
